“During college, I studied at Chinese University of Hong Kong. But when I returned to the States, I found myself missing the distinctive sounds of the city. I recently returned to Hong Kong for a month-long trip to capture the sounds I’ve dearly missed. Armed with a selection of microphones and a digital audio recorder, I captured the iconic sounds of the trams, ferries, crosswalks, and crowds. I recorded the jungle ambiences of Hong Kong’s outlying islands, the conversations of street hawkers, and even the rain and wind of a typhoon! I plan to make all 6+ hours of my Hong Kong audio recordings available early 2025.”
